Laser 4.7 World Championship
Marine Muiderzand

With his worst finish after a discard of second, Tonci Stiponavic (CRO) has taken the title of first Laser 4.7 World Champion in style.
The final day of the Laser 4.7 World Championships in Holland promised perfect weather for the 127 strong fleet.

All sailors left the beach in time with amazing sunshine and 25 degrees allowing gentle sailing to the course area. After a ten minute delay the race officer tried to get racing underway but with a eager Gold fleet three general recalls were again needed before the fleet cleared the line.

A shortened first race was eventually won by Mandy Muldar of Holland, the first female race winner of the week, taking one for the girls at last!! Overall leader Tonci Stiponavic found himself in a comfortable 4th place. The light winds had finally allowed the lighter sailors to shine in their preferred conditions, with the younger sailors making the top ten places they had been working hard for all week.

After and hour and a half of waiting in very light and shifty winds the race officer finally took the decision to call off racing for the day.
