100 Sailors Race at new US Sailing Center Venue
US Sailing Junior Olympic Festival
Over the past weekend, 7-8 December, was the US Junior Olympic Festival. With over 100 young sailors racing in the Laser Radial, 420 and Optimist, competition was fierce.
Saturday's weather was a bit overcast and rainy but the winds were great - NE 8-12. The event was held at the new 7-acre facility which is home to the US Sailing Center, Martin County. Clinics were held in every fleet and three or more races completed on each course.
The weather was gorgeous for the second day of the JO Festival - with the temperature in mid-70's, easterly sea breeze 8-10. Three courses on the Indian River completed ten races in total for all fleets.
And yes... Father Christmas was seen on the course...
