Jersey Clipper finished Yesterday at the head of the Panama Canal to win the closest race so far, with all boats finishing within four hours of each other.
After seven days hard racing from Cuba, the first six boats finished within six hours of each other, with the remaining two, Cape Town and New York, not far behind.
The boats are all now anchored at the head of the Panama Canal, prepared for the long wait for clearance to go through. Their best hope is to be granted transit for tomorrow, presently no one is allowed ashore.
The wind into the finish played the game perfectly, a 10-15 knot reching pressure that closed the boats up leading to the finish
