Northerly wind which sometimes reached 25 knots enabled the competitors to race three flights of the second round robin until 2 p.m. local time.
Until then, the only helmsman who won all three duels was Tomislav Basic of ACI Match Race Team. He succeeded to win the race against Peter Holmberg of the Oracle Racing Team who is in the lead on ISAF Match Race Ranking list. This confirms that it was good for Croatian sailing to invite Basic back to Match Race sailing after a year and a half break.
During early afternoon hours, the wind suddenly stopped and the situation changed from another exciting day on the race course to one more day filled with interruptions. Finally, the duels continued at 4 p.m. with modest north-westerly wind which enabled two more flights. Only three races of the second round robin took place since the weather decided to mess up the competition again and the wind stopped.
At the end of the third day, Peter Holmberg still holds the first position with 11 wins and 3 defeats. Frenchman Philippe Presti (Le Defi Areva) left the race course with 10 wins and 5 duels lost, Swede Magnus Holmberg of the Team Sea Life also feels confident after today's results with 10 wins and 4 unlucky battles, Bertrand Pace (Team New Zealand) won 9 times and was defeated 6 times. Dane Jes Gram Hansen (Team Marienlyst) and home helmsman Tom Basic have 7 wins and 8 losses and British skipper Andy Beadsworth (GBR Challenge) also sailed 7 successful races but lost 7 (with one flight less). Another British competitor, Cris Law, was better than his opponents in 6 duels and unlucky in 9. Italian Paolo Cian won 4 and lost 11 races. Swede Bjorn Hansen had the least luck and was victorious only twice and defeated 11 times.
