South American Games

The South American Games originally scheduled for 2-12 in Bogata, Columbia, have finally been cancelled altogether.

Originally the South American Sports Organization was trying to find a new host for the games, which would have included racing in the Laser and J24 classes amongst others, after countries began withdrawing their entries over security concerns.

Colombia's 38-year civil war had been escalating since February 20 when the government ended peace talks with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.
