Bruno Peyron, his 13 man crew and their 110ft catamaran Orange have succeeded in demolishing the Jules Verne Trophy record for sailing non-stop around the world.

The giant cat crossed the finish line between Le Cre'ach lighthouse on the island of Ouessant and Lizard Point at 16:13:45 GMT yesterday afternoon having spent the last day held up by light winds.

They completed the round the world race course in an incredible 64 days 8 hours 37 minutes and 24 seconds. This is 7 days 5 hours 44 minutes and 44 seconds less than the previous record set by Olivier de Kersauson's trimaran "Sport Elec" in 1997.
