Sill Plein Fruit took Leg 1 honours last night in Yaiza, Lanzarote having completed the 1300 mile stage in 6 days, 4 hours, 14 minutes and 55 seconds.
Ellen MacArthur on Kingfisher crossed the line two hours after Sill Plein Fruit, who had taken line honours at 22 hours, 14 minutes and 21 seconds (GMT).
Ellen took second place in the first leg of the Regata de Rubicon with a time of 6 days, 6 hours, 14 minutes and 21 seconds.
Third place was taken by Bernard Stamm on Bobst Group-Armor Lux who crossed the line 40 minutes after Ellen McArthur at 22.54 hours (GMT), with an overall time of 6 days, 6 hours and 54 minutes.
The remainder of the fleet continue to come into Yaiza in Lanzarote.
The boats depart for the second leg from Lanzarote to Santa Marguerhita, Italy on Monday 20 May 2002.
