Olympic Garda
Lake Garda

The final day of the Italian leg of Eurolymp was blessed with sun and wind.

The Ora, the wind which blows from the south and makes Lake Garda such a paradise for sailors from all over the world, started to blow at 12.30 but on the water the boats had already finished one race with the Pelèr wind from the north.

In the Mistral windsurf class the winner is Pole Patrik Pollak, with two first places and one third. In second place, the Italian Andrea Beverino (sez.Vela Aeronautica Militare), one point behind in the overall results, third place to Frenchman Christophe Carbonnieres. In the Women's, a full house for the Sydney Olympic gold medallist Alessandra Sensini (Y.C.I. GE), seven wins in seven races gave her first place ahead of Flavia Tartaglini (LNI Ostia) and Marta Cammarano (C.N.Maremma). The Italian pairing of Gabriele Bruni ad Alberto Sonino (A.V.Lido), with a 4th place and two wins, was victorious in the Tornado class, second place for Marcolini-Maldina (Y.C.Italiano), third the Slovenians Dusan Puh and Marko Pas.

In the 49ER, Italians victorious again with the brothers Pietro and Gian Franco Sibello (G.d.F.) and the Modena-Modena pair (C.N.Brenzone) in the first and second places on the podium. Third, the Austrians Delle Kart-Resch.

In the Laser, Diego Negri (G.d.F.) managed to finish first overall in spite of achieving just 9th and 4th places today before grabbing victory in the sixth and final race. In second place, the Croatian Mate Arapov, third the Slovenian Vasilij Zbogar. In the women's Europa class, Giulia Conti (C.V.Toscolano Maderno) chalked up two victories and a third place to go first ahead of Giulia Pignolo, in second, while the Croatian Gea Barbic reached third place. The reigning European champion Emilius Papathanasiou managed a third, a second and a first place in the Finn class in today's races to finish with a total of 6 points, 11 ahead of the Czech Michael Mair (17) in second place. In third place, the German Michael Fellman (32), while the first of the Italians, Luigi Masturzo, sliding today to decima posizione (retired from today's first race, then 12th and 14th places).

The women's 470 class has an entirely German podium: first Trübbel-Kussatz, second, Rothweiler-Len, third Birkner-Goltz. Seventh the Italians Richelli-Micol (C.N.Bardolino). In the men's, a result for Lucas Zellmer and Felix Krabbe who maged to get the better of the Italian pairing of Gabrio Zandonà and Andrea Trani, second in the end. Today Zandonà, nominated among the candidates for election as best Italian helmsman in Rome on Monday, achieved two seconds and a first place but the gap between them and the winners built up over the first four races proved to be too great. Third was the Swiss pair Erni-Brügger. Nicola Celon, in the end, lost first place in the Star class due to a tenth place in the last race (discarded), but his seventh on Tuesday penalised him to give the Dane Holm the final victory. Third place went to the Croatian Lovrovich.
