Portugal's ISAF Youth Worlds team is ready for the action on their home waters in Tavira. The team assembled on 11 July in the Algarve and are anxious to start competing.
Portuguese sailors will be in seven of the eight classes participating at ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship. The home teams hopes of a medal are with the 420 boys, Diogo Pereira/Manuel Macedo. At last year´s ISAF Youth Worlds, in Limassol, Cyprus, Pereira conquered the bronze medal (with crew Pedro Cruz). In April, in Tavira, they were crowned 420 Portuguese champions and know the waters well.
Teresa Camelo/Helena Oliveira will be Portugal's crew in 420 girls, while Francisco Maia/Rui Oliveira will represent the home nation in 29er. In Laser Radial boys, Santiago Sampaio will try to do much better than last year's 33rd place in Cyprus, the same for Radial girl, Carolina João, 27th in Limassol.
Vasco Rocha/Salvador Taveira are the Portuguese crew in the SL16. The boys from the Clube Náutico de Tavira, host of ISAF Youth Worlds 2014, will try to improve from their 15th in 2013.
In the RS:X Boys, Frederico Rodrigues will also try to do better than the 25th in Cyprus.
