2014 Development Symposium
Cape Town, South Africa

The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) is pleased to invite all Member National Authorities (MNAs) to send representation for the 2014 Development Symposium which will be held between Friday 14 and Sunday 16 March at the Lagoon Beach Hotel, Cape Town, South Africa.
Confirmation of the venue and dates for this event was made by the South African Sailing President and ISAF Development and Youth Committee Vice-chairman Rob M'Crystal at the Annual Conference in Oman. Mr M'Crystal commented on hosting the event:

"This ISAF event is of huge benefit to all Emerging nations in the ISAF family as well as those that have developed national Training programmes. The ability for us to share our experiences and learn from each other in this type of open forum is perfect for growing the sport. I hope that many ISAF Member Nations in Africa take this opportunity to come to Cape Town to join the event and benefit from the interactive workshops and presentations on offer. They can make a big difference and with the many new ISAF tools it will help them to speed up the process of National Programme development. South African Sailing is proud to host this event and we hope to show all delegates as much of our development work as we can over the three days and of course help all delegates to experience some of the beautiful sights and culture that Cape Town has to offer.'"

This popular annual event has limited availability, having attracted delegations from 17 nations at previous events in Ireland (2012) and Oman (2013). Early booking is essential with bookings for guaranteed reduced accommodation rates at the event hotel.

Delegation sizes are limited to two persons per MNA.

Booking for the 2014 Development Symposium is now open and all enquiries should be made by email where you will receive a registration form and full details of the booking process.

A special ISAF room rate for the event has been set up and must be reserved by no later than 20 January 2014. Please quote the code ISAFDevSym2014 in all communication with the hotel and ISAF.

Proposed subjects for presentation / discussion include:
• The ISAF Youth Worlds Emerging Nations Programme (ENP)
• IOC funding for Rio 2016 Olympic Athlete Scholarships
• International Olympic level Training Centres - 'ISAF Academies'
• Internationally recognized certification/ qualification for your MNA Coaches
• How schools and education can help link to extra support for National Training Programmes

ISAF Training and Development Manager Dan Jaspers said, "After the huge success of this event in both 2012 and 2013 it is encouraging to already have a number of MNAs ask to return for the 2014 Symposium. The feedback from this year again confirmed that more communication with our members is key to our success and that the Development Symposium is providing the forum for just that, in a format that allows discussion and ideas sharing in an informal setting that is geared specifically towards areas of Training and Development. I want to thank the hard work of the team in South Africa that is working tirelessly with us to ensure that this event will be the best yet. This is definitely one event that you do not want to miss."
