The Asian Sailing Federation (ASAF) took historic steps after they held their Annual General Meeting in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.
At the onset, Dr. Malav Shroff was unanimously elected the President of Asian Sailing Federation and Mr Park Soon-Ho would now assume the position of President of Honour as per the ASAF constitution.

ASAF launched the ASAF CUP for Olympic Classes in Asia, a series of events, which will be held across various countries. A similar ASAF Youth Cup will be launched for youth and junior classes.

Vice President, Rashid Al-Kindi from Oman, who was Chairman of the Events Committee announced these series. Each Event series will start in October 2014 and a final event will be held in April/May of each season.

The Sailor of the Year (men and women / boy and girl will be determined from the ASAF Cup and ASAF Youth Cup series of events in Asia.

ASAF AGM also discussed further changes to be made to the constitution which is now registered for the first time in Singapore. ASAF was established in 1981. Jason Lim, Secretary General ASAF explained the various steps taken to Register the Federation and other logistic improvement including a new Bank account being set up for ASAF.

ASAF Executive Vice President Rodney Tan announced various steps to improve and develop sailing in Asia. He emphasized the need to increase the number of Technical Officials in Asia and various other issues related to junior and youth development in Asia.

Korean Sailing Federation Vice President Mr Song then gave a presentation update on the Asian Games to be held in Incheon, Korea in September 2014.

ISAF President Carlo Croce spoke to the ASAF AGM and supported the positive steps taken by ASAF and support ISAF will give to ASAF going forward.

Dr. Malav Shroff, President ASAF ended the meeting thanking everyone for their support to take Asia forward and re-iterating the need for Asian countries to participate in more Asian Events to improve the overall standard of sailing and increase participation across events in Asia.
