For the 233 competitors representing 30 countries, the wait continued for the start of the Mistral European Championships to get underway.
Racing was due to get underway at 1100 hours but the wind failed to show on the first scheduled day of competition, and all hope that the competitors would get out on the water for the start of the championships had to be abandoned. At 1640 local time the principal race officer, Christian Bayer, delayed all races to the following day.
Both the race committee and competitors are hoping that the wind Gods will be kinder tomorrow and enable the competition to commence.
Twelve races are scheduled in total for the championships with a lay day half way through the competition, although it is likely that the lay day will now be used in order to complete the schedule. Racing continues through until 14 September.
