Finland's Staffan Lindberg has won the ISAF Grade 2 Szczecin Match Race on Szczecin Dabie Lake and Reservoir beating a highly competitive field to the title.
For the first two days of competition despite very weak and variable wind a total of 45 races were completed with very close competition and none of the competitors taking a firm grip of the competition.

Croatia's Tomislav Basic won his last four matches of the series to finish the Round Robin first overall and subsequently advanced directly to the semi-finals.

Przemyslaw Tarnacki, who had won the Polish Match Race Championship two weeks prior missed out on the Quarter Finals having taken only two victories alongside fellow Polish sailors Patryk Zboja and Szymon Szymik whilst the six remaining sailors battled it out in the Quarters.

Held on the final day of the competition with a stable westerly breeze Steffan Lindberg (FIN), Antti Luhta (FIN) and Marek Stanczyk (POL) all advanced to the semi finals.

Basic chose to face Luhta and despite some strong resistance from the Finnish sailors the Croatian confidently took the tie 2-0. The experienced Lindberg overcame his Polish opponent 2-0 in the over semi final to set up the final.

In the best-of-five match up first blood went to Basic but Lindberg found no problems levelling the tie in the second match having led from start to finish and never seriously challenged.

Basic imposed a penalty on Lindberg in the third match up but on the last leg a mistake handed the result to the Finnish sailor who took a 2-1 lead before wrapping things up one match later to take the title.
