Denmark's Søren Dulong Andreasen has been crowned 2013 Contender World Champion having overthrown Simon Mussell (GBR) on the final day on Lake Como, Italy.
Mussell had led the 2013 Contender Worlds from the opening day and in the qualifying series the Brit took four out of five race wins.
Heading into the final day the advantage was with the Briton as he held a four point lead over Dane as the Gold fleet ventured into the Final Series.
After two races in the final series the pendulum swung in favour of the Dane who notched up a fifth and a bullet to Mussell's second and tenth which relegated him to second over.
As the sailors waited for a final deciding race, which would have seen the discard introduced, the wind direction shifted by 30 degrees becoming shifty and unstable which meant a final race could not be sailed as the time limit was reached.
This ensured that Andreasen was crowned World Champion followed by Mussell in second and Mak Bulka (AUS) in third.
