The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) met in Lausanne, Switzerland ahead of the 2013 Extraordinary IOC Session, discussing the order of presentations for the IOC Presidential candidates and confirming decisions on the programme for the 2016 Olympic Games.
2016 Olympic Games - Changes to the Programme
The EB discussed the topic of possible modifications to disciplines, events, quotas and competition formats at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and reiterated that any request from International Federations (IFs) that would result in a higher number of athletes or increased number of medals, thereby adding to the cost and complexity of the Games, would not be considered.
This therefore includes the request made by ISAF for an additional medal.
IOC Presidential Elections
IOC President Jacques Rogge conducted a drawing of lots to determine the order of the presentations to be made to the full IOC membership on 4 July by the six IOC members vying to become the next IOC President.
The order of presentations will be: Richard Carrión, Ser Miang Ng, Thomas Bach, Ching-Kuo Wu, Denis Oswald, and Sergey Bubka. The presidential elections will take place on 10 September during the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Session continues with presentations from the 2018 Youth Olympic Games candidates and the selection of the host city.
