Caribbean Laser Midwinter Regatta
Cabarete, Dominican Republic

Thirty six sailors from 13 countries were challenged in all sailing conditions during the three day Caribbean Laser Midwinter Regatta held in Cabarete, Dominican Republic.
The first day offered a steady 22 knots with big swell, the second day featured crowed pleaser in bay racing with shifty and gusty offshore wind, and the third day offered three races in 6 to 12 knots, in beautiful Caribbean sun.

Argentina's Julio Alsogaray, who recently won gold at the Pan Games, fought hard to beat Italian Olympic hopeful Michele Regolo in the right race series. Youngster Ard Van Aanholt from Curacao surprised all by finishing third ahead of his more experienced competitors.

In the Laser Radial Juanky Perdomo from Puerto Rico edged out Philipine Van Aanholt from Curacao with third place going to Peter Seidenberg from the USA.

The Master category winner is Ari Barshi from the Dominican Republic, who used his local knowledge of the waves downwind to beat Wolfgang Gerz from Germany on the last race.
