World Ranking Leaders - 12 December
Mat Belcher & Will Ryan (AUS) took a comfortable victory at ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne and sit well clear atop of the rankings ahead of Panagiotis Kampouridis and Efstathios Papadopoulos (GRE). Asenathi Jim and Roger Hudson (RSA) who finished second in Melbourne have climbed to a personal best of World #27.
Olympic Women's 470 bronze medallists Lisa Westerhof and Lobke Berkhout (NED) move up to World #1 based on the 12-month rolling system. However this month's big movers are Sasha and Jaime Ryan (AUS) who won ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne to climb from World #58 to World #37.
Tom Burton (AUS) has racked up several ISAF Sailing World Cup podium finishes over the last 12 months and has been rewarded with the World #1 spot in the Laser. His most recent success came at ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne where he finished in style to wrap up the title. New Zealand's Thomas Saunders, who won Laser Radial gold at the 2010 ISAF Youth Worlds, moves from World #101 to World #62, one of the biggest climbs this month.
Following her comprehensive victory at ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbournee Krystal Weir (AUS) climbs two places to World #3. Runner up Manon Luther (SUI) progresses to a personal best of World #29 and third place Elizabeth Yin (SIN) now sits at #32 in the world.
Alex Maloney and Molly Meech (NZL) have taken the inaugural World #1 spot in the 49erFX after they won gold at ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne. They are followed by Tessa Parkinson and Kate Lathouras (AUS) and Ella Giudice and Caitlin Elks (AUS).
Allan Norregaard and Anders Thomsen (DEN) still hold top spot in the 49er but after ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne the biggest movers are regatta winners Steven Thomas and Rhys Mara who jumped up 21 places to World #40.
Brendan Casey's gold medal at ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne sees him extend his advantage at the top of the Finn rankings. Changes in the top 25 of the Finn are few and far between but with ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami on the horizon changes will happen.
The Men's RS:X rankings resume and see Julien Bontemps (FRA) sitting in the World #1 position. He is followed by Poland's Przemyslaw Miarczynski and Piotr Myszka. A small fleet sailed at ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne and after his regatta victory Luka Baillie (AUS) comes in at World #20.
Moana Delle (GER) comes in at World #1 in the Women's RS:X followed by Flavia Tartaglini (ITA) and Charline Picon (FRA).
The Nacra17 is set to be introduced into the ISAF Sailing World Cup for the first time throughout the 2012-2013 series and will appear on the rankings following each regatta.
