She is writing for Scholastic News, an internet newspaper for young people.
"Kids read this all over the United States of America, so I've been writing about everything that is happening around the 2010 Youth Olympic Games," she said.
Charlotte windsurfs with 16-year-old Margot at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center in Florida and dreams of competing alongside her at a future Olympic Games.
"I am so proud and inspired by her, that she made it here and is competing," she said.
Margot is in 16th position after six races of the Singapore 2010 regatta.
"She started out rough here but she'll come through. I believe in her," said Charlotte.
Margot, who writes her own blog when she competes, said: "It is just an awesome opportunity that she is here and reporting - it is perfect."
"Charlotte and my parents are hanging around every day. They watch the races and I talk to them afterwards."
