Busan Cup Women's International Match Race
Busan, Korea

Claire Leroy and her Mermaid Sailing Team ( Morgane Gautier, Julie Gerecht, Claire Pruvot, Marie Riou) from France defeated not only her competition, but the strong and gusty land breeze off Haeundae Beach take the 2012 Busan Cup.
In a field packed full of Olympic sized talent and testing conditions throughout the week Leroy came out on top defeating Ekaterina Skudina (RUS) 3-0 in the final.

London 2012 Olympic gold medallist Tamara Echegoyen (ESP) had to settle for bronze after Leroy defeated her 2-1 in the semi final. Echegoyen knocked the French sailor out of the London 2012 Women's Match Racing Competition in emphatic style with a 3-0 victory against her more experienced opponent. However Leroy had a form of redemption to advance to the final.

In the other semi final Skudina breezed past Lucy Macgregor 2-0 to move to the final. The pair met at the quarter final stage at London 2012 where the Russian narrowly edged past the Briton.

The final and Petit Final both saw convincing wins for Leroy against Skudina and Echegoyen against Macgregor.
