St. Petersburg, USA

Peru's Alexander Zimmerman sealed an emphatic victory at the Sunfish Worlds in St. Petersburg taking three race wins in the eight race series.
Held in St. Petersburg, USA Zimmerman upgraded his second place finish at the 2011 Worlds in Curacao to finish 29 points ahead of Colombia's Andrey Quintero.

Zimmerman started the week slowly with a 12th and a fourth place finish on the opening day but three consecutive race wins put him in a pole position to move him ahead at the midway point.

Early leader David Mendelblatt (USA) faded towards the latter part of the regatta receiving a 20% scoring penalty as well as picking up a 23rd place finish as well as a discarded 40th. Nonetheless it was still enough for the American to cling onto bronze.
