The race started with a general recall and finally got off at 1520 with winds of 10 knots from the east-southeast. The Canadians had their troubles today with a broken mast on Brian CRAMER and Iain GREENSMITH and an OCS for Mike MILNER and Matthew JOHNSTON. The Indian team of Mahesh RAMCHANDRAN and Nitin MONGIA also suffered a broken mast. It is fortunate that the lay day tomorrow will give these teams some time to make repairs and get themselves reorganized for Thursday and Friday.
The Japanese team of Tomoya HOTTA and Takashi HOTTA have retired due to personal matters which called Tomoya's crew back to Japan. We are saddened that they will not be able to finish the Championship series as they hae been good competitors and good sportsmen during some difficult races for them.
This Championship is now being lead by Xavier ROHART and Pascal RAMBEAU with 12 points, followed by Torben GRAEL and Marcelo FERREIRA with 16 points.
Third positon is held by defending champions Freddy LÖÖF and Anders EKSTRÖM (SWE) with 18 points, and in fourth is the French Team Phillippe PRESTI and J.Phillipe SALIOU.
Any of the top five are still in the running to be the 2005 Star World Champions.
A typical Argentinian barbecue is planned for the lay day tomorrow and everyone is looking forward to having some time ashore to enjoy the sights and food of Buenos Aires.
