The 29th edition of the Bared Puerto Rico International Regatta has kicked-off strong with a record early bird registration, including visiting boats from the Caribbean and the United States.
The event, scheduled for the weekend of March 11-13 will sail out of Marina Puerto del Rey, in Fajardo, and be sponsored by BARED Jewelers with Breitling M-1 watches again being awarded to the first place of each class.
"We expect to have six very competitive classes: Spinnaker Racing, J-24 OD, Spinnaker Racer/Cruiser, Cruising (Double Headsails), Jib & Main and Beach Cats", said Kike GONZALEZ, Commodore and Regatta Director.
"We will use the multiple race format as we did last year, so competitors should expect their class flag flying at the committee boat shortly after finishing each race. No time for long snacks or naps", added the Commodore.
Big parties are back.
"Some of the best local bands will be playing at the regatta tent every night so ….. bring your dancing shoes", said Nayda GUTIERREZ, Field Director. Marina accommodations will be available for competitors.
"Special and very attractive rates are available for registered boats and mother ships. Competitors should contact early Francia or June at the Marina at 787-860-1000", added Gutierrez.
