Registration Concludes

Star World Championship 2005

Day two of Registration and Measurement for the Star Class World Championship 2005 is well underway in Buenos Aires and the Race Organization yesterday morning had already issued 12 bow numbers to competitors who had finished the measurement process.

Registration concluded last night and the organisers expected to have measured the bulk of the fleet by then.

The process was interrupted yesterday evening around 17:30 when the skies to the west of the Club darkened remarkably, some lighting was visible and shortly thereafter a ferocious storm descended on the Club Nautico Olivos. Horizontal rain with winds in excess of 90km/hour (55mph) registered on the Club's wind velocity instruments and branches and tree limbs cascaded into the parking lot.

Thankfully all the Stars were ashore and no damage was suffered. The weather calmed after 30 minutes of this chaos and the humidity level dropped significantly.

Members of the Jury have also arrived, and the first official social function took place yesterday evening.

The first practice race will take place today (11 February) with the first race getting underway at 15:00 (local time) tomorrow. Racing will continue until Friday 18 February, unless the reserve days are required.
