Recommendation for full accreditation of the Spanish National Sail Training Programme has been successfully approved by ISAF.
The inspection from 17 - 22 April 2012 included a comprehensive review of the programme management at the RFEV Headquarters in Madrid as well as four selected training centres in Cantabria, Murcia, Andalucía and Galicia.
Mr José Fernández Agudo, Chair of the Real Federación Española de Vela Commission commented on behalf of Federation President Gerardo Pombo, "The RFEV commitment over the year's in restructuring and supporting the educational sailing programme have been rewarded with the ISAF Accreditation of our National Education Program .
"The important role developed by our CAR's (Centro de Alto Rendimiento) in integrating the high level training programmes with the Autonomous Federations and schools for beginners, is the key factor in the success of the National Programme recognition. The RFEV is very pleased and satisfIed with this recognition. It will permit us to work together for the future of the sailing sport worldwide."
Dan Jaspers, Training and Development Manager at the International Sailing Federation said of the news, "I am very pleased that our Spanish Member National Authority has supported us in this process and joined the other MNAs who have already undergone the process of Accreditation. Working with such a diverse list of National Sailing Federations is helping the International Sailing Federation to build up a more accurate picture of how the training of our sport is being delivered around the world.
"The Spanish Federation has a history of producing great sailors and by understanding how they, as well as the other MNAs that we are already working with have done this, we can do more to support and grow our less developed members and use the experience of other National Federations who are willing to share their knowledge to speed up the process of growth. I once again thank RFEV President Gerardo Pombo for his on-going support and look forward to working more closely with the Spanish federation in future."
