Cathy said, "Growing up in Cowes on the Isle of Wight I've been lucky enough to be surrounded by a marine based environment all my life; although my time on the water has been limited, it has been incredibly enjoyable and furthered my interest in sailing and water sports, developing a keen interest in working within the marine industry.
"My role prior to ISAF has been with the United Kingdom Sailing Academy where I started working within the busy training department helping to support senior instructors and aiding the administration team. After working for UKSA for a couple of years and helping to support the incredibly busy and pro-active departments I decided to take some time out to travel Australia, where I travelled to Sydney and made my way up the East Coast which was an adventure that increased my passion for travelling. Upon my return I was invited back to work at UKSA to develop and maintain an aftersales department. This role quickly grew to support course advisors, providing a comprehensive and streamlined service for both current and future students on the numerous programmes delivered at UKSA.
"Working for a water sports based charitable organisation I developed an understanding that time on and around the water not only increases self-confidence but develops skills in communication, team building and problem solving. This understanding has fuelled my passion for further involvement in this industry and joining the ISAF Training and Development Manager Dan Jaspers in the administration of the Connect to Sailing Initiative will be a challenging and exciting role. I look forward to working within the team and am eager to learn and develop further within the work of the International Sailing Federation and its members."
Cathy joined the Training Department at the ISAF Secretariat in Southampton on 2 July 2012.
