The Soling World Championship will take place at Club Velico Castiglione della Pescaia from May 20-27. Seven races will be sailed in the typical sea breeze of the Tyrrenian coast of Southern Tuscany, with beautiful Maremma beaches, islands and historical villages as a backdrop.

The 2005 Soling World Championship is attracting a big fleet with 32 entries from 10 countries already signed two months before the first entry deadline of 27 April with a second deadline setup for 15 May.

Competitors will be coming from all over Europe and North and South America with Master & World Champions, European Champions, Paul ELVSTRÖM Trophy Winners (awarded to the best placed helm aged 28 or under) and South American Champions amongst the lineup.

Last year's event in Porto Alegre, Brazil was a very close run affair. Winner Gustavo WARBURG (ARG) was separated from second- and third-placed George WOSSALA (HUN) and George NEHM (BRA) by just two points.

The Opening Ceremony is planned for 22 May at 19:00 in the old castle square in the Medieval part of Castiglione.

The event is organized by Club Velico Castiglione della Pescaia, International Soling Association with the support of Provincia di Grosseto, Comune di Castiglione della Pescaia, Associazione Albergatori di Firenze, Slam, Banca della Maremma Credito Cooperativo and the technical help of Tecnoallestimenti, Hotel Miramare, Veleria Diddi, Scalambra Service, Concessionaria BMW di Grosseto, Borgo Monastero.
