More than 130 sailors from eleven nations took part in the combined Austrian Championships, some of them to learn about the wind conditions at the venue of the World Sailing Games.
There were no surprises in the final results. 2004 Olympic gold medallists in the Tornado Roman HAGARA and Hans Peter STEINACHER (AUT) took victory, as did Austria's top Laser sailor, 2004 Olympic silver medallist, Andreas GERITZER. He won also the Grand Final just in front of Bertram FISCHER (AUT). Former World Champion Hans SPITZAUER sailed the Finn to the Austrian Champion title behind Michal HRBY (CZE) and Balasz HAJDU (HUN). 2000 Olympic Champion in the Mistral, Chris SIEBER (AUT), took his first steps on the road to the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition in Quingdao together with his crew Clemens KRUSE in their 49er.
Austria's best 470's teams, Mathias SCHMID and Florien REICHSTÄDTER and Sylvia VOGL and Carolina FLATSCHER won their classes and confirmed their number one position in Austria.
