Attracting male and female coaches from all six Continents and 24 nations including Canada, Hong Kong, Israel, the Netherlands and Japan, the Seminar was held over four days in the Turkish City of Istanbul and was a great success.

Coaches from a wide range of experience and across many classes shared information with and heard from the expertise of such coaching greats as Skip WHYTE (USA), Hamish WILCOX (NZL), Illias MYLONAS (GRE) and Victor KOVALNKOo (AUS) as well as Olimpic Sailmaker/Designer Renzo SORCI (ITA).

Topics ranged from 'Dealing with sailors emotions' to 'Painting the picture: Juniors to Olympics' , 'Mast and Sail Development' to 'How to categorise Opti Kids' , 'The coaching Dynamic' as well as 'How to overcome disappointment during class transition' , 'Keeping Kids in the Sport', 'The Coaches Role in Speed Testing', 'Starting Strategy' and 'Decision Making'

Several of the participants who are accomplished athletes and now coaches gave personal experiences . Aiko SAITO (JPN), Luis ROCHA (POR) , Ilan TASTASH (ISR) and Mark ROBINSON (SIN), gave special contributions to share their experiences and to explain their country models.

Special thanks must go to Yalcin GURKAN and the support of UK Sailmakers and the Turkish Sailing Federation. Thanks must also go to the National Federations of the coaches involved for their release of coaching expertise within the Seminar.
