TRUJILLO was the star performer on Lake Garda, winning seven of the nine races to take victory in the Finn event by a comfortable seven points. Croatia's Marin MISURA was the best of the rest in second place, four points ahead of his teammate Karlo KURET (CRO) in third.
A bullet in the final race was not enough to lift 470 European Champions, Ingrid PETITJEAN and Nadège DOUROUX (FRA) above DE KONING and BERKHOUT in the 470 women's event. The Dutch pair finished with a 1,2,2 record in the last three races, dealing number one team in the ISAF World Sailing Rankings, PETITJEAN and DOUROUX, only their second defeat of 2005. Third place went to Slovenia's former Europe sailor Teja CERNE with crew Alja CERNE.
Italy's second win came in the 420 with Gian Marco TOGNI and Filippo TOGNI just managing to keep ahead of another Italian team helmed by Luca GOFFREDI despite finishing DNF and 11 in the final two races.
