Celebrations will continue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with the Junior World Championship which takes place from 13-20 August. Former Junior Snipe World Champions include the legendary Torben GRAEL (BRA) and several sailors now on Olympic campaigns.
The Snipe Class, founded in 1932, began with plans drawn by William H. CROSBY for a trailer-able boat that could be easily built. The plans were published in Rudder Magazine in 1931 and the class immediately took off.
Currently the Snipe is raced in 27 countries worldwide.
Unfortunately the first day of racing at the Worlds was postponed due to Typhoon Banyun.
