St. Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada

Over 200 participants and 180 boats wrapped up three great days of racing on the waters of St. Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada yesterday afternoon to mark the end of ISAF Grade 3 Canadian Yachting Association (CYA) Sail East 2005.
Solid winds and sunny skies prevailed as competitors made one last push to climb up the leaderboard. The closing ceremonies and prize presentation took place immediately following the regatta with Brian TODD, representing CYA and Barbara PIKE of Nova Scotia Yachting Association joining CYA Sail East 2005 Regatta Chair, Rhonda DENNIS to present the awards.

The victory in the Optimist green fleet went to the only non-Canadian winner of the regatta, Benedicte SIOSSE (FRA), whilst the Jacob CHAPLIN-SAUNDERS (CAN) won in the regular Optimist fleet. Matthew Archibald (CAN) won in the Byte with a perfect seven point score and Lauren LAVENTURE finished second overall and took the honours in the Byte Under 16 Eastern Canadian Championship. Victory in the 420s went to Ben HUNT and Graeme CHAPLIN-SAUNDERS (CAN), with the second place team of Joss WARREN and Matthew DAVIDSON again taking the Under 16 Eastern Canadian title.

The 29er fleet was one of the most closely contested with Brock HOPEMORLEY and Jason HURST BRITTANIA (CAN) eventually coming out on top. Alexander BLACK and Kelvin GILLILAND (CAN) finished ninth overall and first in the Under 16 Eastern Canadian Championship.

In the two ISAF Graded classes, Mark CAMPBELL (CAN) took two bullets in the last three races to secure victory in the Laser. In twelfth position overall, Yvan PERRIN (CAN) was the highest placed of the under 16 contingent. Meanwhile in the Laser Radial, Alexander PALMETER (CAN) scored four bullets on his way to victory.
