2012 London Olympic Games
Weymouth & Portland, Great Britain

Following discussions with ISAF, the award-winning Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) will be enabling international teams to train at the venue throughout the period leading up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Overseas teams are therefore now invited to base themselves at the WPNSA using the completed facilities.

International teams will be able to make necessary training arrangements at the WPNSA through their Member National Authority as well as other organizations recognized by ISAF.

Packages tailored to the size of the team are available on an annual or three year basis. Priority will be given to teams booking for the three-year package as well as a discount. Availability will be on a first come first served basis and there will be a limit to the number of teams that can be accommodated.

The packages will include dinghy boat parking and launching, container storage, rib launching / mooring / storage and cranage for keel boats as well as full access to car parking, changing rooms and canteen.

During some of the high profile events there may be some restrictions on international team access, but these will be kept to a minimum, access details can be obtained from the Academy.

John TWEED, Chief Executive of The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, said, "The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy is now welcoming international teams to train at the venue through a managed access system. There is a clearer picture now on the major events that will be staged at the WPNSA in the lead up to the Games and therefore we can now actively invite overseas teams to train from the completed venue. Visiting sailing teams will be able to access details of WPNSA training packages directly through their Member National Authority. The international team training access is positive for the WPNSA and will complement the venue's existing commitment as a water sports facility with local and global appeal."

Other Pre-Games Training Camps & LOCOG Financial Award

In addition to the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, 20 different venues around Great Britain are available to sailing teams wishing to take part in a Pre-Games Training Camp ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) is offering a Financial Award of up to £25,000 to National Olympic Committees (NOC) and National Paralympic Committees (NPC) choosing to take advantage of some of the best sailing facilities in Great Britain.
