Italian Spirit At Paralympics Night In Düsseldorf

"Benvenuto Torino" was the motto of this year's Paralympics Night in Dusseldorf, Germany, organized by the German National Paralympic Committee (NPC).

Among the around 1,000 guests and well known personalities, Tiziana NASI, President of the Committee for the Paralympic Games of Torino 2006 (COMPARTO) and Tang XIAOQUAN, Vice-President of the Beijing 2008 Organizing Committee and Executive President of the NPC China.

The German NPC also used the evening to present different awards. The German Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability Award was given to Swimmer Kisten BRUHN (Female category), Cyclist Michael TEUBER (Male category) and the German Sitting Volleyball National Team (Team category). The BARMER Paralympic Media Awards, which honour extraordinary achievement in the fields of sport and media, were awarded to Katja BAUROTH (Fuldaer Newspaper, Print category), Johanna REICHERT (Neue Revue Magazine, Print category), Dirk ROHRBACH (WDR 2, Radio category), Martin ZIMMERMANN (RBB, TV category) and Tong LI (Beijing TV, TV category).
