A Piracy, Terrorism and Small Craft seminar will be held by the International Regulations Commission for ISAF delegates at the 2005 ISAF Annual Conference in Singapore. The seminar will take place at the Grand Copthorne Hotel on Tuesday 8 November 2005 from 0930-1100 hours local time.
The principal speaker at the seminar with be Yew Guan LIM (Mark LIM), Assistant Director, Maritime Security, MPA (Maritime Port Authority) of Singapore.

An awareness of Maritime Security is as important today as ever. Particular issues of interest to small craft include:

  • Piracy, including robbery and similar attacks on small craft
  • Terrorism, when small craft may be used as vehicles for attack.

The Singapore MPA is one of the leaders in the field of countering both piracy and terrorism and LIM will describe to delegates some of the measures being taken in Singaporean and neighbouring waters.

As well as having shared responsibility as a littoral state for one of the busiest commercial waterways in the world, Singapore has also developed its own tracking system for small craft.
