ISAF World Sailing Games 2006
Lake Neusiedl, Austria

Sailing associations around the globe sent representatives to inspect the sailing location of the ISAF World Sailing Games 2006, which will take place in Lake Neusiedl, Austria from 10-20 May.
The annual executive board meetings of the International 470 Class Association took place for the first time in Austria at the federal training centre for sailing and surfing in Neusiedl am See the weekend before last. Representatives were sent from all over the world to pay their first visit to the location of the ISAF World Sailing Games 2006. Lake Neusiedl showed its best side to the representatives from 15 nations, with radiant sunshine and a soft lake breeze. Olympic competitors Laia TUTZO (ESP) and Marta WÖRES (HUN) and the Australian Head Coach Victor KOVALENKO where amongst those in attendance.

A short excursion to Weiden, the venue of the 470s regattas, took place where the national representatives visited the accommodation facilities and the lake shore. 'The apartments at the 'Seepark' in Weiden are ideal for us. Our sailors will certainly feel comfortable here next year,' commented Ott KALLAS, the Secretary General of the Estonian Yachting Union.

'The representatives were impressed by the many possibilities which the lake has to offer. The sailing location, as well as the presentation of the programme of events of the ISAF World Sailing Games were received enthusiastically by all national representatives,' commented Arthur THÜRINGER of the Austrian 470 Class Association, who organized of the meeting.

'I am now relieved after today from the positive reaction received, not only from our programme, the region, the lake and the accommodation offered but also from the diversity of the lake region. This is evidence that we are on the right track,' said the managing director of the ISAF World Sailing Games 2006, Koloman WATZEK.
