The 2005 Chief Classifiers Meeting was held from 14-16 October at the Gustav-Stresemann Institute in Bonn, Germany, with most Paralympic and IPC Championships Sports in attendance.
The meeting focussed on sport research and its relation to classification as well as the newly developed IPC Classification Code, Version 1.0. Chiara LAMMA from the Torino 2006 Organizing Committee (TOROC) also attended the meeting and presented the operation plans, logistics and time schedules for the upcoming Winter Paralympics.
'It was a very successful meeting,' said Andy PARKINSON, IPC Medical & Scientific Director. 'I am pleased with the discussions and input from the group of classifiers, and it is clear that while sports have specific issues, many can be resolved collectively through such a forum.'
The next annual Chief Classifiers Meeting is tentatively scheduled for early May 2006 in conjunction with the VISTA Conference.
