BONTEMPS And VAZ Lift World Crowns

Cadiz, Spain

Two more races on Saturday brought the 2005 Raceboard World Championship to a close in Cadiz, Spain. After a total of twelve races, Julien BONTEMPS (FRA) took the men's title, whilst Carmen VAZ (ESP) came out on top in the women's competition.

A consist performance from BONTEMPS gave him the title over fellow Frenchman, Mistral World Champion and winner of the RS:X Cadiz Race on the previous weekend Nicolas HUGUET (FRA). Joeri VAN DIJK (NED) and Curro MANCHON (ESP) were on 60 points in third, with the Spaniard's two victories breaking the tie in his favour.

In the women's fleet, Carmen VAZ (ESP) took the Raceboard Women's Championship title, whilst Bryony SHAW (GBR) and Faustine MERRET (FRA) kept hold of their second and third places on the final day to round out the podium. Lucy HORWOOD's (GBR) two bullets on the final day brought her up from eighth to sixth but this final flourish was not enough to put her on the podium.
