This was TANG's first visit to IPC HQ and she was given a tour of the building, which dates back to the early 1900s. The IPC HQ were originally two private residences and have now been given a distinct atmosphere through the integration of modern elements combined with the old-style architecture.
After discussions had taken place about the upcoming General Assembly (GA) to be hosted by the Chinese NPC from 18-19 November in Beijing, China, the programme connected to the GA and a brief update on the status of the organization of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, TANG underlined that a Paralympic Games Department had now been established within BOCOG.
TANG commented, 'It is an honour for me to visit the International Paralympic Committee. I have, during my visit to Germany, seen that this country and its government are very supportive of sport for athletes with a disability. I believe that BOCOG, working jointly with the IPC, will stage great Paralympic Games in Beijing in 2008.'
