Two races scheduled for the final series took place before the top ten went into the grand finals. Here the top competitors graduated to a series of race offs. In the initial races the losing teams were eliminated, and then when the fleet had shrunk the winner was decided by the number of race wins.
The grand final lineup oozed quality with the three Olympic medallists from Athens lining up along with all the winners of this year's ISAF Grade 1 events

The British pair were able to produce the form that has kept that at the top of the ISAF World Sailing Rankings for well over a year and took the gold medal. Meanwhile LARSON and SPAULDING sailed terrifically to take second place in only their second ISAF Graded event in the 49er since the ISAF Worlds in 2003 and HANSEN and HANSEN scored by far their best European result to date with the bronze medal.
In the 29er European Championship being held simultaneously in Vallensbæk, Ed CHAPMAN and Tom PEEL (GBR) finished as clear winners, taking the title with two races to spare. The battle for silver was far closer with Denmark's Helle Ørum NIELSEN and Simon Karstoft JENSEN just holding on in the last race to beat Dylan FLETCHER and Nick HOLLIS (GBR) by a single point.
