KEARNEY and MCCULLOUGH Take The Honours

Mirror World Championship 2005
Östersund, Sweden
Ross KEARNEY and Adam MCCULLOUGH have claimed the Mirror World Championship in Östersund, Sweden to continue Ireland's fantastic run of success in the boat. The pair scored five bullets from the ten races to finish twelve points ahead of Simon MCGROTTY and Melissa DALY, who completed an Irish one-two on the podium.
The racing began in Sweden on Sunday 7 August with light winds dominating the early races. As the week progressed the wind picked up with good conditions leading up to the final day on Friday.
KEARNEY and MCCULLOUGH had a mixed start with a first and second place and a seventh and eighth in the first four races. This left John and Jamie CLEMENTSON as early leaders after they scored bullets in races three and four. However the Irish pair then found their top form scoring three bullets in a row, before being black flagged in race eight. MCGROTTY and DALY were able to make the most of the leader's mistake scoring a bullet and then matching that result in race nine. However KEARNEY and MCCULLOUGH followed them in in that race, before going on to win the final race of the Championship and secure the World title.
