Pre-race favourites, Farokh TARAPORE and Vikas KAPILA (IND) have so far struggled to find the form that saw them claim victory at Kieler Woche in Germany. They have only two top ten finishes and lie 23rd overall. With the qualifying series over after the lay day today the open competitors will be split into gold and silver fleets based on their overall standing.
The women are racing in a straight fleet of 68. They are currently being lead by Jo BRIGG and Mary ROOK (GBR) who have built up a solid eight point lead after four races. The British pair got their Championship off to a flying start with a bullet followed by two second places giving them a substantial lead by the end of race three. However they slipped to 17 in race four to bring them back towards their fellow competitors.
A bullet in race four puts Maria Stella TURIZIO and Maria Carolina RENDANO (ITA) second, four points ahead of Delphine MACAIRE and Chloe GOUGEON (FRA). After a consistent start to the Championship, recent runaway winners of the 420 event at the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship, Marie LUMEAU and Claire BOSSARD (FRA) lie fourth.
