'It's pretty nice scenery out here,' said an enthusiastic Richard SYDENHAM, a British crew member on Victory Challenge. 'With the Øresund Bridge and the Swedish coastline, it's an impressive place to sail.'
Impressive it may be, but most of the race course area was under light winds in the afternoon. However the teams that sailed were still able to accomplish their goals in four to seven knot breezes.
'We were able to fine-tune the rig and check some new sails, so it wasn't a wasted day at all,' said Magnus HOLMBERG (SWE), skipper of Victory Challenge. 'We're hoping to schedule some 'friendly matches' in the coming days so that we can shift into racing mode.'
The other teams are all looking to hit the water over the next few days, and the forecast is calling for stronger winds as the weekend approaches, so better conditions will prevail as everyone winds up their programme. Racing begins in one week.
