Windsurfing Euro-Cup Oeiras 2005
Oeiras, Lisbon, Portugal

The beautiful town of Oeiras welcomed the world's best windsurfers with perfect weather. On the registration day the wind was howling with almost 30 knots but on the opening day of the Euro Cup there was between 10 to 15 knots.
Unfortunately the wind was gusty and shifty and some of the competitors were a little bit over enthusiastic. So at the end of the first day of racing the race committee had achieved six starts but only one valid result. Wojtek BRZOZOWSKI (POL-10, Starboard, Neil Pryde) from Poland was the man of the day and won the race in front of the double World Champion Micah BUZIANIS (USA-34, F2, North Sails) and Gonzalo COSTA HOEVEL (ARG-3, F2, Neil Pryde).

Wojtek had a decent start heading in the direction of the beach and with perfect tactics he managed to reach the upwind mark in the first position just in front of Fernando MARTINEZ (ESP-71, Starboard, Severne). Micah BUZIANIS and Gonzalo COSTA HOEVEL fought their way through the pack and managed to pass Fernando in the second lap. But Wojtek controlled his opponents and managed to win the first race of the Euro-Cup Portimao.

After the first day of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup Portimao Wojtek BROZOWSKI is leading in front of Micah BUZIANIS and Gonzalo COSTA HOEVEL. Devon BOULON (ISV-1, F2, Windwing) and Alberto MENEGATTI (ITA-456, F2, Gaastra) complete the top five. On the following positions we find Fernando MARTINEZ, Hubert MOKRZYCKI, Wilhelm SCHURMANN, Jesper VESTERSTROM and Vincent LANGER

The first start today is planned for 13:00 (local time).
