Peter WIBROE (DEN), currently ranked at number 35 in the world went into the semis as the top ranked skipper with eight wins and one loss and chose to sail against Alpo KAAKINEN (FIN), leaving the other semi between Martin ANGSELL (SWE), ranked just three places above WIBROE at number 32, and Tobias NIEMI (FIN). WIBROE then went on to take his place in the final with two straight wins whilst ANGSELL took NIEMI to three matches before securing his place.
In the final, WIBROE once again did not give his opponent much of a look in, controlling the matches from start to finish.
KAAKINEN and NIEMI had a much tougher fight for third place which eventually went in KAAKINEN's favour.
All these sailors will be hoping for a boost to their ranking position when the new ISAF World Match Race Rankings are released tomorrow.
