Top International Skippers Line Up

Knickerbocker Cup 2005

Twelve teams from around the world have arrived at the Knickerbocker Yacht Club in Port Washington, New York to compete in the ISAF Grade 2 2005 Knickerbocker/Abilities! Cup hosted by the Knickerbocker Cup Foundation.

The Knickerbocker Cup is one of only two ISAF graded big boat Match Racing Events in the United States, and the only one on the east coast. Qualifying Rounds begin on Thursday 25 August throught to Saturday 27 August, with Finals scheduled for Sunday 28 August.

Following the ISAF World Match Race Rankings release yesterday, the twelve skippers representing seven nations range from seventh in the world, Ian WILLIAMS (GBR) to Jonathan SINGSEN (USA) who is ranked at number 175. Racing will take place in J105s on Manhasset Bay.

Terry McLAUGHLIN (Canada), along with Phil GOW, Geoff MOORE and Allan MEGARRY are back to defend their title after winning the Cup the past two years. Also returning are Scott DICKSON (USA), Christian HAMILTON (GBR), Laurie JURY (NZL), Martin ANGSELL (SWE), Simon MINOPRIO (NZL), and Peter WIBROE (DEN).
