Formula Experience World Championship 2005
Hood River, Oregon, USA

A fleet of 41 sailors from ten nations raced an exhilarating 13 races in the perfect twelve to 30 knots wind at the Formula Experience World Championship at Hood River, Oregon, USA. French open and Youth World Champion Julien QUINTEL thrived in the conditions and dominated the Championship by scoring an incredible eleven bullets.
With the Championship counting three discards and each race win counting for 0.7 points, the young Frenchman ended with a perfect points total of seven. He was followed by Jesper ORTH the top Australian pro, and bronze went to the defending champion from Turkey, Bora KOZANOGLU

The top North American was Canada's Zac PLAVSIC, who climbed from 41st to fourth place after missing the first three races due to receiving incomplete chartered equipment and a serious bronchial infection.

The Championship took place from 1-6 August. After a windless Wednesday and Thursday, Friday was back on track with six races sailed in the blistering Hood River Gorge wind.

In the junior division Canada's David HAYES sailed exceptionally and finished tied with Alexandre COUSIN from France for first place. At the end of the event both shared the same total points, but with HAYES dropping his second and COUSIN his fourth, HAYES ended up the winner.

In the women's division Nicola GIRKE from Vancouver, Canada sailed consistently well in all 13 races winning easily in her fleet of six.
