The World Sailing Speed Record Council have announced the ratification of a new World Record

RECORD: Dakar to Guadeloupe

Yacht: 20 foot open catamaran.

Sailed by: Andrea GANCIA and Matteo MICELLI

Dates: 27th December 2004 to 10th January 2005.

Elapsed Time: 13 days 13 hours 58 minutes 27 seconds

Average speed: 8.28 knots

The previous record for this route has been held since 1999 by Hans BOUSCHOLTE and Gerard NAVARIN with a time of 15d 2h 26m58s
