Under the new partnership, Chubb becomes the title sponsor of US SAILING's three U.S. Junior Sailing Championships (the U.S. Junior Single-, Double- and Triple-handed Championships) and the Championships' regional qualifying events. In addition, Chubb will provide educational racing clinics for the young sailors participating at up to 22 regional qualifying events for the Championships. Chubb's sponsorship in providing these clinics will enable more junior sailors to have access to top level coaches.
'Youth sailors are the future of our sport and we're thrilled to be able to team up with Chubb to ensure that our young sailors, many of whom aspire to become national champions, can get a great jumpstart on their sailing career,' said US SAILING's Executive Director Charlie LEIGHTON. 'Chubb has an excellent track record of providing tailored insurance programs for the marine industry and this is a great opportunity for them to have direct influence on the future of our sport.'
'Since our founding nearly 125 years ago, Chubb has played a major role in helping to protect everything maritime, from commercial and luxury personal vessels to cargo to yacht clubs and marinas, and even sailors,' said Jayne HILL, branch manager and senior vice president of Chubb & Son. 'We are proud of our strong association and sponsorship with US SAILING, the pre-eminent organization for the sport.'
US SAILING first teamed up with Chubb more than a decade ago to provide property and casualty insurance for its members through a programme managed by Gowrie, Barden & Brett (GBB). Since this partnership was created, the marine insurance programmes endorsed by US SAILING have continued to expand, with several programmes available for US SAILING members, such as tailored programmes for individual offshore boat owners, as well as for sailing organizations such as yacht clubs and schools.
