Connect To Sailing
Auckland, New Zealand

The Yachting New Zealand initiative Sailing…Have a Go! will be one of ten water sports involved in the Auckland Harbour Festival Youth Passport from 23-31 January next year.
This fun scheme gives girls and boys aged ten to 15 the chance to get amongst it, in and on the water for free. Sailing… Have a Go! will be based at Kohimarama for eight days from 23-31 January offering kids the opportunity to try sailing in an Optimist or Cadet dinghy. Registration is on line from early December at www.youthpassport.co.nz .

Yachting New Zealand requires two Club or Assistant Club Instructors to work over this eight day period. If you are interested in some part time work in the holidays then contact Sabra DAVIES on 968 5803 or sabra@yachtingnz.org.nz.

Sailing....Have A Go is a Yachting New Zealand project aims to introduce approximately ten to 15 thousand youngsters into sailing over the next five years, and while not all will be retained, it is anticipated that many can be encouraged to join a club and the sport for life. Yachting New Zealand's former President Geoff THORPE made a presentation on the initiative at the second Connect To Sailing Seminar held during the ISAF Annual Conference in November.
