Registration Book Now Open
QBE Phang Nga Bay Regatta 2006
Phang Nga, Thailand
The Organizing Committee for the 2006 QBE Phang Nga Regatta, scheduled for 27-31 January, have announced the Registration Book is now open for business. The previous eight Regattas have grown in popularity with the local yachts but, in latter years, representation from outside Thailand has increased significantly.
The entries have exceeded expectations, leading Committee President Andrew CRAIG to comment,
'Our normal experience for this regatta is that at least 20% of the entrants turn up on the day. We hope that, this year, the prospective participants have read and understood that the first 40 yachts to register are the lucky ones and that everyone ends up satisfied. We are chasing the habitual latecomers to ensure that, whatever happens, no one will miss out.'
The Race Committee have decided on the outline courses which will take the fleet, following the Opening Party at the Royal Phuket Marina, to Koh Yao Noi for the first day's race.
Day two takes the fleet round the Islands of Phang Nga to the Sheraton Krabi for the Chinese New Year Party, whilst day three sees the yachts make the downhill run to Phi Phi. The final run to Ao Chalong and the Mangosteen should, current winds persisting, allow the faster yachts to show their true attributes.
